周公解梦 reads darkness as obscured fortune — a phase where the way is not yet clear, counselling patience until light returns. To find a light in the dark is read as guidance arriving; to be lost in it, a matter you cannot yet see your way through.
Jung read darkness as the unconscious and the not-yet-known — not evil but unlit, the realm where new things gestate before they can be seen. To move through darkness is to trust the descent; the dawn that follows is consciousness expanded.
Ibn Sirin read darkness as confusion, misguidance, or a trial — the absence of the light of guidance; to emerge into light is read as relief and clarity returning. Framed as meaning: where are you in the dark, and which way is the light?
